Welcome back from your PTA

8/9/2026 12:09 pm

💛 Welcome Back, Spartans!

We’re so excited to begin a new year together at LCHS 7/8!

Our amazing PTA volunteers have been busy planning events, refreshing resources, creating new Spirit Wear, and helping our families feel connected from day one. I know many of us are feeling both excited for a new school year and a little wistful that these years go by so quickly. We’re looking forward to making this a wonderful year for our students and families!

🙌 Thank You, Volunteers!

A big thank you to the many parents who have already jumped in:

Allison Stone refreshed our PTA website and brings you this Spartan Scoop!

Ahee Han, Jody Menerey, and Soraia Han worked all summer on our new Spirit Wear designs and presentation. The new collection was a huge hit at the New Family Social! Get your Spirit Wear in time for our All-school Tailgate. You can order online or shop in person at the first PTA meeting.

Lynley Gross, Jen Wainman, and Meera Pyper helped welcome our newest families at the New Family Social. It was wonderful to see so our school community leaders present: Dr. Gold and 9-12 Principal Ito, Superintendent Debra Cradduck, School Board members Caroline Anderson and Octavia Thuss, Booster Presidents Vanessa Terzian and Kim Eggleston, PTSA President Tiffany Petroc, PTA/PTSA volunteers, ASB leaders, and even our therapy dogs! The band preview on the field was the perfect way to kick off the year.

Where Does Your PTA Money Go?

Every dollar raised by the 7/8 PTA stays right here at our middle school, supporting:

  • 7/8 Wellness Center
  • IRC (Library)
  • Technology
  • Extracurriculars- Intramurals, Science Olympiad, 7/8 Drama, Homework Club, Builder’s Club, ASB
  • Classroom supplies
  • Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
  • PTA programs- Reflections Art and Red Ribbon Week
  • 8th Grade Promotion & Carnival
  • Campus improvements

This is separate from the La Cañada Flintridge Educational Foundation’s suggested $3,000 donation, which is shared across all five district schools to help bridge state funding gaps.

📚 Here’s to a Great Year!

The middle school years go by so quickly. Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered, joined the PTA, donated, or simply shown up. We’re grateful to have you as part of our Spartan community.

Enjoy these last few summer days, and I wish your family a wonderful first day of school on Thursday, August 13!

Welcome back from Dr. Gold

8/9/2026 12:11 pm

7th and 8th grade families,
I hope the last weekend of summer has treated you well, and that you are all finding ways to prepare your child for their return to school which is officially in 4 days!!! The time has flown by, but I hope that you have all had some quality time with your friends and family and that the summer was memorable. The Golds went to Playa Del Carmen (we even swam with Whale Sharks), traveled to New York including a baseball tournament for my son in Cooperstown, and I spent a few days golfing with friends in Cabo.

Our campus is ramping up as high school registration is tomorrow, our WEB Leaders are training today and tomorrow, and our secretaries and counselors are back on campus.  All teachers will return on Tuesday and Wednesday for staff meetings and training and then the big day, kids return on Thursday August 13th.

7th Grade Only - WEB Orientation: August 10th TOMORROW (8:00 am - 12:00 pm):   All 7th-grade students are all invited to join us for WEB (Where Everybody Belongs) Orientation, where they will meet their WEB leaders, participate in ice-breaking activities, make new friends, and tour the campus. Our WEB leaders are trained 8th graders who participated in this event as 7th graders and will now be mentoring your child through their 7th-grade transition.  We hope that all students can attend.

Schedules - Please note students will not receive their schedules or Small Schools until a day or two prior to the start of school.  We know this may not be ideal for you or your child, but please trust in the fact that there is so much behind the scenes work that goes on with counselors, administration and other logistics that does not allow us to release schedules prior to that.

PE Clothes - All students will need PE clothes by week 2 when they start dressing.  At minimum, students need shorts and a shirt, and the sweatshirt and sweatpants are optional.  We encourage all students to order their clothes ASAP to ensure on time arrival (this is NOT Amazon). Go to https://bsnteamsports.com/  and use the current access code: LCPE26I (expiration date 8/16/26)

Registration - 7th grade registration will occur after school begins, on Tuesday August 18th through students History class.  At this time students will receive their books, ID cards, and pay for their yearbook and ASB if they wish. I will send out additional information about registration the Friday before. **Please make sure to complete all paperwork on Aeries.  When students come to registration we will verify that this has been completed.**

Important Dates for 26-27: Please click on this link to view the important dates for the 26-27 school year.  Please know these dates are subject to change, but if they do I will be sure to let you know.

Join us on Social Media - I make 1-2 Instagram Live updates a week to share things that are going on around campus.  Anything essential will be sent via email or phone call, but this is a good opportunity to stay up to date with what’s going on around campus.  Follow us on Instagram @lacanada78

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Thank you,
