Please talk to students about traffic safety, especially at the end of the school day. The school has received concerns from drivers that students are running against the red light at Oak Grove Dr. and Foothill to catch the shuttle bus.
With the sun in the driver's eyes, it is not always easy to see people. Please be cautious at all times and remember the old saying "Better late than never".
After careful consideration and on-going discussion between LCUSD, the LCHS 7/8 administration, the NO LEFT TURN sign out of the 7/8 turn around has been removed. Please be careful as you turn on to Foothill.
Please remember to pull forward to where the carline starts and not stop in the middle of the drop-off zone. It seems that many parents stop in the middle of the turn-around area…right between the 7/8 bldg. and the IRC. While this is the spot that is closest to the buildings, it leaves the drop off length ahead vacant (which is about 4-5 lengths). By pulling completely to the end of the turn-around (where the new sign is posted) will provide a much more efficient pattern of unloading students. Everyone will benefit, even the students who get the additional exercise of walking 40 feet more.

Car Line Procedures
1. When entering the 7/8 drop-off lane from Foothill be aware that left turns from Foothill are
not permitted during morning or afternoon peak hours.
2. Please remember 7/8 turnaround is a moving carline. Do not block traffic or the entrance to the parking areas while
in the carline. Please park in a designated area if you need to get out of your car.
3. All cars should move forward as much as possible in both the carline and turnaround area. Please do not stop the
carline flow to wait for your student before joining the 7/8 circle. Keep moving forward towards the circle as the
flow continues. (Do not expect or encourage other cars to pass in front of you before joining the circle—
please continue moving forward when there is room in the circle).
4. Once you are at the circle, continue to move forward with the carline as it is moving in front of you.
5. Talk to your child about looking for your car while he/she is waiting during pick up times. Remind your student to
look for your car in the upper area of our traffic circle, where it may not be as visible.
6. When exiting the 7/8 drop-off lane onto Foothill Boulevard, both right and left turns are permitted.
7. Review these procedures with your children and anyone picking up or dropping off your children.
For your children’s safety, please limit your cell phone use while you are in the carline. Motorists 18 and over may only use a "hands-free device." Drivers under the age of 18 may NOT use a wireless
telephone or hands-free device while operating a motor vehicle.
