eScrip Frequently Asked Questions

eScrip is an important part of our fundraising program. In 2001, the La Cañada schools raised over $33,000 using eScrip, with fewer than 400 families signed up. Can you imagine how much we'd raise if EVERYONE signed up?

What is eScrip?

eScrip works with participating merchants (such as Vons, Chevron, Eddie Bauer and many more listed at www.escrip.com) to return a portion of sales to schools when shoppers have signed up with their service and designated which school they'd like the money to go to. eScrip knows when you've shopped at a participating merchant when you use either your designated grocery store card or your designated credit card for your purchase.

What percentage does eScrip give to the schools?

It depends on the merchant. Vons gives back 4% of your monthly purchases over $300, and a lower percentage on the amount less than that. Chevron gives back 1%, and Eddie Bauer gives back 5%. You can see these percentages at www.escrip.com.

How do I sign up?

Either fill out the attached form and mail it to eScrip, or go to www.escrip.com. Be sure to designate which school you'd like the money to go to. The LCHS 7/8 school code is 154274066.

Is there a fee for signing up?

No. There is no longer a fee to sign up.

Do I need to renew my eScrip membership every year?

Unfortunately, yes. In 2003, eScrip started to require that supporters renew every year between September 1st and October 31st. You can renew easily at www.escrip.com.

Do my purchases count for eScrip if I use my phone number at Vons?

Unfortunately, no, unless you call Safeway at (877) 723-3929 to have them tie your phone number to your Vons Club number in their database. If you do call them, they should be able to give the school credit for past purchases made when you just entered your phone number.

OUCH! eScrip donations expire with credit cards!

You know how every couple of years you receive a new credit card in the mail because the Expiration Date on your current card is about to expire? Guess what? Your future eScrip donations expire with it, even if the new card has the same number as the old card. For LCHS 7/8 to qualify for eScrip funds, credit card Expiration Dates MUST be current in the eScrip database.

Fortunately, there's an easy fix. Simply update your new credit card¹s Expiration Date online at eScrip.com. With your new credit card in hand, at the orange menu bar called "Parents/Children", simply click "My eScrip", then "Go to Account Administration", then "Credit and Debit Cards". If you can¹t remember your User ID or Password, no problem! eScrip provides immediate help by asking you to enter your last name and any card you¹ve already registered with the eScrip program. A new expiration date can also be mailed or faxed in to eScrip, but it can take up to a month to process.

While logged in, please take an extra minute to see if your Vons Club Card and all your credit card numbers are correctly registered.
